Introduction
In 1865 the Ku Klux Klan was created by six confederate veterans from Tennessee on December 24, 1865 to restore white supremacy back in the South. The Ku Klux Klan was a big part of the racism in American history. The Ku Klux Klan didn't want the blacks to have the same rights as the whites. Whites didn't want the blacks to have any political power. The Ku Klux Klan was scared they would lose their democratic power in the south. The Ku Klux Klan was significant to the outcome of American history. The Ku Klux Klan was significant to slowing down the blacks right to vote and equal rights. The Klan was important to giving motivation to the Civil Right Acts. Before the Ku Klux Klan was created, President Lincoln was elected as president of the United States. The Republican Party had ran a anti-slavery platform. Fugitive slaves fought for the war and the price was freedom (pbs). Emancipation Proclamation helped the blacks enlist for the army in the North (PBS).
